Construction of a Laser System for the Detection and Cooling of Polar Molecular Ions
Our research focuses on the study of quantum information and metrology. Towards these goals, we are developing and implementing methods for trapping ultra-cold polar molecular ions, a promising quantum computation architecture. This project would familiarize the student with the technique of laser cooling as well as solid-state diode lasers. The student would also assist the PI and postdoctoral researcher in the assembly of a molecular ion trapping experiment.
