Aknylography
Ankylography is a new 3D imaging technique, which, under certain circumstances, enables reconstruction of a 3D object from a single view. This work was published in Nature in 2010 [K. S. Raines, S. Salha, R. L. Sandberg, H. Jiang, J. A. Rodriguez, B. P. Fahimian, H. C. Kapteyn, J. Du and J. Miao, Three-Dimensional Structure Determination From a Single View, Nature 463, 214-217 (2010)]. In this project, we will extend ankylography to image larger and more complex 3D objects by measuring coherent diffraction patterns at multiple sample orientations. We will implement this method first using numerical simulations and then performing experiments with optical lasers. We are looking for bright and talent students who are interested in taking on this challenging and exciting project. For more information, please contact Prof. John Miao (miao@physics.ucla.edu).
